Here at SILOU, we are committed to creating premium clothing that moves with you through all of life’s moments, both large and small. We want our pieces to be adored, inspire movement and stand the test of time. For we believe love, purpose and longevity support our mission to create sustainable luxury activewear.

We approach each of our business decisions with time and care, understanding the choices we make now, will impact future generations socially, economically and environmentally. For us, sustainability isn’t a single destination but rather a journey filled with many learnings, unexpected turns and triumphs to be earned. We’ll be honest, at times it can be an uphill battle. We challenge traditional industry practices that we believe are outdated and created for a time passed rather than our own and the one to come. We are here to make a difference but are aware that we can’t do this on our own. We need help from our supply chain to logistic partners and to you, our customers who encourage us each step of the way.

We want to bring our community on our journey towards progress over perfection. We are the first to admit, we don’t always get it right but we are committed to transforming how fashion is created, consumed and valued. With so many brands and industries adopting more sustainable measures, it can at times feel overwhelming, repetitive and downright confusing. SILOU was founded through a need for activewear that is sustainable and luxury, not either or. It is a part of our brand DNA and we vow to be accessible and approachable along the way. We design with you and our planet at our core and as we grow, we promise to stay true to you and our purpose.

We hope every time you wear SILOU you feel empowered, optimistic and proud. Your choice to support a small business that creates and designs sustainably and transparently is part of a collective effort for the future of our planet and for that, we are sincerely grateful. Please be patient with us as we invite you to be open as we are, honest as we are and learn as we learn.

Our mission is to create luxury activewear that feels good on the body, performs in the gym and is kind to our planet. We do this through conscious design.

SILOU is committed to creating premium clothing that is beautiful, functional, ethically responsible, long-lasting and sustainable. Every decision we make has an impact on both people and the planet, so we consciously put ethical practices at the core of our business. We understand sustainability isn’t a single destination, and we pledge ourselves and our business to the ongoing journey.

SILOU is the lovechild of Founder Tatiana Kovylina and Co-founder Phoebe Greenacre, both highly active women who balance strength and femininity in their many individual and shared walks of life. Creating an answer to their personal search for activewear that inspired, performed and was both as sustainable as it is luxury, SILOU launched in 2017. Deriving from the word silhouette, SILOU aspires to unite rather than sacrifice. Luxury with sustainability, fashion with function, inspiration with action. Gone are the days of ill fitting clothes that hide and disguise you, we want to create activewear that celebrates you and the many activities you do, from energising yoga, walking the dog or the school run, SILOU creates confident activewear designed for your every day.

Creating fabric and producing clothing requires water and energy. We intentionally choose textiles and manufacturing partners with the highest standards of sustainable environmental and social practices. It’s important to us to minimise our impact on the planet and endorse fair working conditions in every way that we can.

Our process starts with intent. From creation to delivery, designing for women has always been at the heart of what we do. Rather than being trend-driven, our activewear is seasonless, classic and designed for longevity. We only select colours and styles that enhance the female SILOU-ette and remain fresh year after year. Our pieces are mix-and-match so your activewear wardrobe does more with less.

It’s crucial that our fabrics adhere to the highest technological, environmental and social standards, which is why we use bio-based, luxury textiles. These are crafted using premium raw materials that are eco-sustainable using production processes with a limited impact on the environment.

We continuously test new recycled materials to ensure our activewear uses the most premium sustainable fabrics currently available. Only when we are 100% satisfied with the quality and feel will we use the fabric to create new SILOU-ettes. By encouraging our textile partners to provide new sustainable fabric options, we help drive demand, which expedites innovation.

Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified and performance-tested, meaning they are free of harmful chemicals and fit for human use. With no harsh chemicals used, production impacts on the environment are minimised, resulting in a fabric that is soft and safe against the skin.

Surplus product and excess fabric consumption contribute to fashion landfill and unnecessary environmental impact. To counteract this and reduce overall textile waste, we are committed to small-batch manufacturing; a sustainable and respectful approach that works for our business, our customers and the planet.

Our activewear is made with consideration and care. Our main supply points are in Italy, Portugal, Lithuania and Belarus. They are sweatshop-free, have no-child-labour policies and surpass European standards for good working conditions, a healthy work environment and fair pay for all employees. We regularly visit to ensure standards are met and the people in our supply chain are respected and cared for.

We are a small batch manufactured company that chooses to work away from traditional market seasons. This allows for greater flexibility when designing and creating collections that truly make sense to our community versus consistently producing and manufacturing simply because that is the way it has been and is still done. We challenge tradition when it does not align with our brand philosophy.
