1. FOR STRESS RELIEF
Aromatherapy has been used for centuries, and lately more scientific studies are being conducted by beauty and drug companies who are wising up to the benefits of essential oils.
I have long been a fan of tiny bottles filled with heavenly scented liquids. For mood alteration and hormonal imbalance, especially during “the challenging ” times of the month, I use geranium by adding a few drops into my bath, blending with day cream or simply rubbing it into my tummy.
Frankincense is also a powerful oil. Known to be a ‘church oil’, it offers a variety of health benefits including helping relieve stress and anxiety, pain and inflammation relief and boosting the immune system.
2. FOR MINDFUL HYDRATION
When it comes to H20 I always carry a bottle of water with me wherever I go, but I made the switch to glass bottles many years ago. If I must drink from a plastic bottle I make sure it is BPA free – this way I’m know I’m being kinder to my body and the environment.
3. TO ELIMINATE BAD BACTERIA
We spend hours every day using our smartphones, but they are known to collect germs and bacteria, especially when we lay them flat at a cafe table or put them next to our wallets. For this reason alone our phones have the potential to cause the skin to breakout.
In order to combat any bad bacteria I use French 80 percent Ricqles Alcool de Menthe to wipe my phone clean, daily.
4. FOR HEALTHY REFUELLING
I tend to eat small amounts frequently during the day. In the morning I pack a bag of dried sulphate-free apricots, cashew nuts, walnuts and seeds into my purse, this way if a healthy snack isn’t available I don’t have to worry.
5. FOR AN INSTANT UPLIFT
I don’t carry much in terms of makeup, but colourless lip balms are great to use as a highlighter on the cheeks, or instead of an eye shadow for a dewy glowy complexion. My latest must-have is the balm Dotcom by Glossier – it’s hydrating, long-lasting and packed with antioxidants.
In the hot summer days I can’t recommend floral water enough. Rose or Geranium water by UK-based company NHR is my absolute favourite, I buy all of my essential oils from them.
