Who Made My Clothes?

I MADE YOUR CLOTHES

The #WhoMadeMyClothes campaign initiated by Fashion Revolution co-founder, Carry Somers focuses on asking for and gaining transparency from brands.

It’s estimated that over 60 million women worldwide, aged between 18 and 35 are working in the garment industry – and making less than minimum wage. These women are hidden away and working for high street and fast fashion supply chains, without respect, care and rights.

From our European makers who grow, spin, dye and produce the fibres for our fabrics to our London based team who work together to bring SILOU to you. When you purchase a SILOU-ette, you are not only going to receive quality, but you are supporting the slow fashion movement that is really so unique and necessary today. We are very fortunate to know our skilled makers and people throughout our supply chain, from Portugal, Lithuania, Belarus and Italy to right here in the UK.

The people within our SILOU network are our family and as we’re in a unique position of knowing our makers and people throughout our supply chain, we thought we’d share in this journal the people behind the SILOU-ettes.

Together, we can change the way clothes are made.

Set in Belarus is our production team for all things bodysuits and leggings. These expert makers have trained for years to create beautiful, quality garments. Since 1931 our manufactures have been creating SILOU-ettes for 2 years.

SMALL BATCH PRODUCTION

WE CHOOSE TO BE SMALL-BATCH PRODUCED, SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Batch production is where fixed quantities of products are manufactured. The system is very motivating for the production teams and results in high-quality clothing. Within the production line, quality is planned. With quality control checks taking place throughout the manufacture, this ensures that each product is identical and meets all our specifications.  We choose quality materials that are non-toxic and designed to last. We take into account the materials and components we select are expensive, and therefore our manufacture is cost-effective and efficient.
