BE KIND TO YOURSELF
5 ways to take some me-time
As it’s Mental Health Awareness week, we’ve been turning our attention outwards, and focusing on the well-being of others with Kindness. From joining meditations, hosting live charity events to handing out cute compliments to our work wife. Fact is, the world would be a better place if we were all a little nicer to ourselves too. Taking care of yourself and forming a kind of routine is perhaps more important than ever. And because every habit is infinitely more inviting when you have a lineup of calming methods, we’re compiled four ways to be kind to yourself and add some extra downtime to your day...
5 ways to take some me-time
Write your way to enlightenment
Transformation Coach Amy Rushworth shared with us life-changing wisdom to help us achieve gratitude and a clear mind. How? Journalling - a simple day-to-day practice we can add to enlighten our moods each morning.
Write your way to some downtime time by dedicating 5 minutes of your day to reflect.
Head to our IGTV to watch Amy's simple guide to call in our positive energy and solidify a day-to-day practice of gratitude.
Oracle and Tarot cards
Using oracle cards can help you flip your perspective and turn inwards. By using our intuition we can interpret the cards meaning and message and bring some positive energy to your day. Our co-founder Phoebe recently took over our Instagram for the day and shared with us her daily rituals that bring her harmony at home and how she likes to pull a card every day. Her favourite decks are The Moon Deck + Work Your Light Oracle Cards.
Every week you should plan some downtime, just like how every workout needs a cool down. In yoga it’s called Yin, a slower pace of movement and postures so connect our body and flexibility. Support your SILOU-ette with a slow and meditative flow. Our Co-Founder hosts a weekly class on Sundays at 7 pm.
Learn something new
When everything seems a little off balance, find solace in personal growth and exploration. Over on Instagram, we’ve been inviting you to take your inversions to the next level with tutorials from our #WomenofSILOU. Known to improve upper body strength, flexibility, digestion and perhaps hormonal balance, Jaime Hepburn guides us to master a headstand from home.
A good night's sleep
Sticking to a consistent bedtime and wake up time we can regulate a better wake process, which ultimately helps us establish healthy habits and leave us feeling more rested and ready to start the day
Be kind to your silou-ette
Designing for the female Silhouette is at the heart of everything we do. Although we like to think that we are growing from this notion of women embracing their shape and figure, still today, we struggle to say nice things about ourselves.
Appreciate yourself as often as you can - compliment yourself, and if you’re a little rusty start here with a tangible gift you can cherish forever. After all, if we’re at home more now, it means more time to practice complimenting yourself on your new silhouette. For cringe factor, talk to yourself in the mirror too, it might give the neighbours something to think about.
If you’re wary of investing in day-off attire, opt for versatility. Look for technical layers that can hold their own like our Vogue Bra or Kate legging. Designed as life wear pieces while also evolving your at-home look to a woman of elegance. These SILOU-ettes provide opportunities for innovative self improvements that will brighten both your mood and your workout.
